The Student of the Month program has been an important part of the academic life at Bowie High School for 26 years and is bestowed upon students with outstanding grades and an admirable work ethic.
"I worked my tail off to get where I am. I took no days off and went 110% always," Chips said.
Chips would like to attend Harvard University.
"The only time I'm not doing homework is when I'm sleeping," Chips said.
Chips is her own motivator. Her parents don't push her.
"I chose to go hard so I can do what I want in life," she said.
Chips attributes her Student of the Month award to hard work.
"I work hard and I get good grades," she said.
Chips had tips for other students who aspire to be Student of the Month.
"Set high goals for yourself and try your hardest to reach them," she said.
Academics aren't Chips' only strength. She is a talented basketball player and counts basketball as one of her favorite classes, with Coach Collier as one of her favorite teachers.
