You need to change the aperture.

A tripod and a DSLR camera (preferably with AEB).
3. What is the reason someone might take an HDR image?
To get the perfect exposed photo.
4. What can we expect to happen with the images once we merge them together, what will we see that we might not have seen with just one photo?
We can see darker spots of the photo better and we can see lighter spots better. It helps us see highlights and shadows.
