Photo Manipulation and Ethics

A. Manipulating images in the photojournalism field is wrong.  Anyone can photoshop and change the appearance of photos. Just toning someone is manipulating the photo. Whenever we manipulate photos we are twisting the truth.
B. The New York times and The Washington Post have a strict no color manipulation rules. They are required to turn in the RAW images and their edited pictures.

C. Acceptable things to do to a photo would be cropping out unimportant scenes and possibly brightening a scene that doesn't change the color of main subjects.

This photo is extremely unethical. TIME magazine is portraying O.J. Simpson as a bad person by darkening the image. It should have been kept the exact same as from the mugshot.Image result for photojournalism unethical photoshop
This photo is less ethical because the change is small and it is not changing the extreme look of the subject. If the photographer had completely changed the look of her face it would be unethical.
