Josef Koudelka is a Czech-French photographer born on January 10, 1938 in Moravia. Moravia is part of the Czech Republic. Koudelka received a degree in engineering in 1961.
Koudelka originally took picture for magazines and theater performances. He cameback to his own projects after he did some work for others. He did a project over Romanian Gypsies where he photographed the Soviet invasion, in August 1968. He published a book called "Caos. Fotografie di Josef Koudelka, Animal."
He took mostly pictures of war and things he thought had a deep meaning behind them. His biggest example of this is the pictures he took at the Soviet Invasion of 1968. Koudelka has won awards such as the Prix Nadar and the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography. He has his picture hung in museums across the world. A few of the museums are; The Hayward Gallery, The Museum of Modern Art and many more. Koudelka hasn't died and he is 78 years old.
The photos I have attached are from the Soviet Invasion of 1968. They show how the Romanians reacted the the invasion They took a stand and they were afraid. They rioted and came together.
